Moving labor
Moving labor only in Austin: you rent the truck, we bring the crew.
Full-service movers quote you for the truck, the fuel, the insurance and the crew as one package. If you have already booked a U-Haul or a Penske, you do not need any of that — you need two or three people who know how to load a truck properly. That is what labor-only moving help is, and it is usually the cheapest way to move without doing it all yourself.

The difference
Labor only, full service, or doing it yourself.
Worth being clear about which one you actually want before you start calling around.
| Option | You provide | Best when |
|---|
| Labor only | The truck, boxes and the drive | You have a rental booked, or you are moving within the same building or across town |
| Full-service movers | Nothing | Long distance, no time, or you want one company liable for everything |
| Friends and pizza | Everything, plus the favours | A studio, a short distance, and people who actually show up |
What it costs
How many helpers, and for how long.
Prices are agreed directly between you and the helper — nothing is fixed by us. These are the starting rates people post in Austin, plus a 15% service fee on top. Treat the hours as a realistic range, not a promise: stairs, long carries and heavy furniture all add time.
| Move | Usual crew | Typical hours | Rough total at $35/hr |
|---|
| Studio or 1 bedroom | 2 helpers | 2-3 hours | $140 – $210 plus fee |
| 2 bedroom apartment | 2-3 helpers | 3-5 hours | $210 – $525 plus fee |
| 3 bedroom house | 3-4 helpers | 5-8 hours | $525 – $1,120 plus fee |
| Unload only | 2 helpers | 1-2 hours | $70 – $140 plus fee |
| Single heavy item | 2 helpers | 1 hour | $70 plus fee |
The 15% service fee covers Stripe processing, escrow and support. You see the full total before you pay and nothing is added afterwards — see how the payment works.

Describe the move
Size of the place, the floor, whether there is a lift, and roughly what needs carrying. One sentence is enough — our AI turns it into a proper posting.

Your payment is held
The agreed price plus the 15% fee is captured and frozen by Stripe. Nothing is released yet, and the helper can see the job is funded.

One tap once everything is where you want it. The payout goes out the same day and the job closes.
When it is doneAn honest word about availability.
We are new in Austin. Moving is the category with the most helpers on the platform, but we are not going to tell you a crew is guaranteed for tomorrow morning when it depends on who is actually free. Post the job and you will see real responses — or you will see none, in which case you have lost nothing, because you only pay when a helper accepts.
Questions
Moving labor: frequently asked questions
What does labor-only moving mean?
You provide the truck or container and do the driving. The helpers do the physical work — loading, carrying, unloading, and basic disassembly and reassembly. It is normally the cheapest option if you have already rented a vehicle, because you are not paying for a moving company’s truck, fuel and overhead.
How many movers do I need?
Two helpers cover most studios and one-bedroom apartments. Two to three for a two-bedroom, three to four for a three-bedroom house. Stairs without a lift, long carries from the door to the truck, and heavy solid-wood furniture all push you towards more people rather than more hours.
Can a helper drive my rental truck?
Only if you and the helper agree it explicitly and your rental agreement allows an additional driver. Most rental insurance only covers named drivers, so check before you ask. The default assumption on every job is that you drive.
What if something gets damaged?
Do not mark the job complete. Because the payment is still held in escrow at that point, there is a clear moment to pause and raise it before any money is released. Note that helpers are independent contractors, not our employees — for high-value items, check whether your own contents or rental insurance covers the move.
Can I book for tomorrow morning?
You can post it. Whether it fills depends on who is free — we are new in Austin and we will not pretend otherwise. Posting is free and you only pay once a helper accepts, so there is no cost to trying.
Do I need to provide boxes and padding?
Yes. Helpers bring their hands, and often gloves and straps. Boxes, tape, blankets and shrink wrap are yours to supply — there is a
moving kit list if you want to order everything at once.
How is this cheaper than a moving company?
You are paying for labor and nothing else. There is no truck, no fuel, no dispatcher and no company margin built into an hourly rate. The trade-off is that you take on the driving and the responsibility for the vehicle.
Post your move and see who is available.
Describe it in a sentence. You only pay once a helper accepts, and your money stays in escrow until the job is done.
