Every quote you get for moving, cleaning or a handyman is built the same way: an hourly rate, a minimum, and a list of things that are not included. This page puts the published Austin numbers next to what the same job costs when you name the price yourself — with the sources named, so you can check them.
We have an obvious interest in you booking through us, so we have tried to write this the way a friend in the trade would: real ranges, named sources, and the cases where paying an insured company more is the right decision.

Rates change and vary by company, season and day of the week. These are the figures those pages state at the time of writing, not an average of the whole market.
You agree a price with the helper and pay that plus 15%. Nothing else.
A one-bedroom move-out clean. An Austin company quoting $95 an hour for a team of two, with a three hour minimum, is $285 before extras. If you agree $200 for the job with a helper here, you pay $230 in total, and the price does not move if it takes them three and a half hours.
Two people for a four hour load-in. A two-person crew at the published $90 to $130 an hour is $360 to $520 for four hours, and a truck usually comes with it. Agreeing $150 each here costs you $345 in total — but no truck, no company insurance, and the loading is on you to organise. That difference is the honest trade.
Where a company is worth the extra. Long-distance moves, anything needing a licence, high-value or fragile items, buildings that require a certificate of insurance, and jobs where somebody has to be liable if a wall gets damaged. We would rather you spend more elsewhere than have that go wrong on a job booked here.

There is no single number, because you are not buying a product, you are buying hours of a specific person’s time. What we can tell you is the shape of it: on this platform you name the price yourself and add 15%, so a helper you agree $150 with costs you $172.50 all in. For comparison, published Austin rates for a two-person moving crew run roughly $90 to $130 an hour and a two-person cleaning team around $90 an hour, before anyone talks about minimums. The gap between those two structures is mostly minimum hours, insurance, and whether a company vehicle turns up.
Because an hourly rate protects the company against a job running long, and a flat agreed price protects you. Hourly billing with a two or three hour minimum means a ninety minute job is billed as three hours. When you agree a price for the job instead, the risk of it taking longer sits with the person who estimated it. That is better for you on short jobs and worse for the helper if they underestimate, which is why we tell helpers to quote honestly rather than low.
Not always, but very cheap usually means something is missing, and it is worth knowing what. A $30 an hour independent with no truck, no insurance and no reviews is genuinely cheaper than a $95 an hour insured two-person team, and for carrying boxes down a hallway that difference may not matter at all. For a fragile piano on a staircase it matters enormously. Match the level of protection to what can actually go wrong.
Stripe processing, payment protection and support. Your money is authorised and held before the job starts and only released when you confirm the work is done, which is what stops the two oldest problems in day labour: the customer who does not pay and the worker who does not turn up. There is no posting fee, no membership and no charge at all if the job never happens.
Not required and never taken by us. If you do tip, all of it goes to the helper. The price you agree is meant to be a fair price on its own rather than a base that needs topping up, which is the whole point of naming it up front.
Four things, in order of how often they surprise people: stairs, parking distance, the amount of stuff nobody mentioned, and disposal. A third-floor walk-up with no loading zone can double the time on the same volume of boxes. If you tell us about all four when you post, you get a price that holds.
Post what needs doing with the date, the address and what you are paying. Helpers near you see it immediately, the money sits with Stripe until you confirm the work is done, and nothing is charged if the job never happens.
